If you wish to know guitar lingo, you should be aware that much of the lingo has to do with the parts of the guitar. For example, the body of the guitar is the large section of the guitar that many call the box of sound. The size, shape, and type of material that is used to create the body of the guitar have a large effect on the sounds that the guitar actually produces. The following will list additional lingo that is involved in the guitar:

1) The headstock is the section of the guitar that holds the keys or tuning devices of the guitar. This is the area that is located at the top of the guitar, along the neck of the instrument. 2) The nut is the part of the guitar that actually holds the strings in place. This is located at the top of the neck of the guitar. Many people also refer to this as the neck bar or string bar. 3) The neck of the guitar is the long section of the guitar that contains the various strings of the guitar. 4) The fret or the fret board is the area of the guitar that sits underneath the strings of the guitar. There are many notes and chords that are listed along the fret and these normally vary by the type of guitar. 5) If you hear the term “pick up”, it refers to the device that picks up the transmission of sounds coming from the guitar. Normally, you will hear this particular term when you are dealing directly with bass guitars and electric guitars. 6) The amp is a term that is used to label the amplifier. The amp acts like a speaker in which transmits the sounds that are being played on the guitar into louder more precise sounds that can be heard clearly. 7) The pick is the small little piece that is used to pluck the strings of the guitar.

There are many terms and lingo that are used to describe the sounds and features of a guitar. If you are a new guitar player, it is important that you know and understand each of these.
